Christina Urso-Cale
Manager, Huon Valley Office

Christina comes to KCEC with over 7 years of experience as a Small Business Consultant in Hobart and the Huon Valley.  She owned her first business at the age of 20, after deciding to make Tasmania home during a year-long backpacking trip.  Since then she has owned and operated 3 small businesses - the first in Tourism, and the second two in the Pet Industry.

She has Bought, started, grown and sold businesses and is well versed in all aspects of business management from start-up to succession.

"I am intimately familiar with the challenges of small business, how lonely it can be and difficult it sometimes is to overcome obstacles.  I also know and love the freedom and autonomy that owning a business can bring; and it's an unparallelled feeling of satisfaction when you succeed".

Christina started up the very successful Women Entrepreneurs Network in 2014, and enjoys the process of business people learning and growing from others' experience; be it through training, business events or networking.

Her personal approach to business consulting is one of mentorship, understanding and empathy; coupled with practical tools and resources to help people reach their full potential.

Scott Dufty
Manager, Kingston Office

The majority of Scott’s working career has been in Banking and Finance, prior to him joining KCEC in August 2008. So giving business guidance and support to existing business owners and those people contemplating starting a business is something Scott is well versed in.

Having owned two prior businesses – one a start-up, the other being a purchase of a going concern has given Scott greater understanding and empathy with small business owners.

“As a Business Development Manager for one of Australia’s largest banks I felt I had a good understanding of small business – which I did. But when you’re running your own show, paying wages, rent and other bills – the full comprehension of ensuring sales are made to meet these costs lifts your understanding of being in the zone more than you could have ever appreciated before”.

Over his years with KCEC, Scott has been keen to organise and run events such as business breakfasts, business opportunity dinners, business expos, business awards and happy hours.

“These events are great for our clients to network in and receive business education – and to have fun as well”Scott was also the Business Manager for a successful Hobart retailer where his major focus was  on optimising business growth and profitability through identifying new ways of doing business, new service offerings and new market opportunities.
